lzilulu's stuff......

houseboat heaven on the murray......

 'morning chickadees.....we have returned from our L*O*N*G roadtrip to mannum in south australia.....where we met up with a group of south australian friends......

.......boarded this houseboat on the murray river.....

......and so began three days of bonding,drinking,eating,playing,sleeping,drinking,eating,gathering,fluffing,drinking,eating............

.......there was plenty of this...

....and plenty of this.....

.....which, when put together, leads to lots of male bonding standing around.....

....we had a variety of skippers...

....we enjoyed the onboard live entertainment..............

......we had some early morning visitors.......

....we played some card/spoon games.....

....some of us, who shall remain nameless, played some masochistic games.....something like how much pain can i endure by pegging pegs to my face.....or i think that is what it was called....i'm sure i could think of some more appropriate words to use......

....at night we sat around our very own campfire, eating of course and perhaps enjoying the odd port or two..

....some one of us did some fishing....and some canoing.....

....it seemed that the men spent a lot of time looking for suitable mooring objects......

......i will miss this view for a L*O*N*G time.....

...i will also miss the people until we meet up again....where to next?...perhaps the dandenongs....in S*U*M*M*E*R........

i left the barossa valley on a high note.....

....we travelled to mallala and stayed two more nights with our friends and got to catch up with some more of their family members who we haven't seen for too many years.....we then spent three days zig-zagging our way home......we were near cobar, narromine, warren, coonamble, quambone....and couldn't help wondering if i actually went past the front gates of some fellow bloggers.......

....before i sign off, i really must thank a couple of people for the wonderful trip.....firstly, barney, for turning 50.....

....hope you enjoyed the surprise factor of us turning up....we sure did!!!

.....lastly, but by no means least....i must thank sonia for all the organising and managing to keep it all a H*U*G*E birthday surprise for barney.......

......now it's back to the mundane day to day domestic stuff.....and planning my next getaway.....to launceston in tasmania to visit my sister and family.....next month....mr lzilulu says it will be far too cold for him to visit tasmania so guess that means that i will just HAVE to go alone...... ;>))

weekend in the shed........

hello, it's me...back again....

being the last weekend of the month we have had a workshop in the shed. this month the ladies were making pyjama pants and/or table runners using jelly rolls/charm squares.

as usual we had a bit of fun.....lots of eating, chatting, laughing....... and some sewing....

the camera came out yesterday, but can you believe it, i missed getting photos of the ladies and their finished projects today......

lots of "head down, bum up" happened......

....and then we saw some fruits of their labour......

...time to go outside for a photo-shoot...

....then a bit of fun.....

....and the duchess?? do you want to know where she was while all this was going on??...well in the most comfy place in the shed of course......

....and to cap off a great weekend, one of the ladies made a pair of pj pants in s.i.l.k.....truly scrumptious.....fancy wearing these to bed!!!

....well, chickadees...that's another weekend over and now i have to spend some time getting ready for our next adventure.....on thursday we leave on a roadtrip to mannum in south australia where we will meet up with eight south australian friends and spend three nights on a houseboat....will be freezing cold and guess what???.....i d.o.n.'t c.a.r.e....will be so much fun....yes, i'll tell you all about it, well some things might have to remain secret...when we get home....

some catching up.....

hello chickadees......were you beginning to think that i was NEVER going to do another post????...me too!!

this is the third attempt to get this post published.....the first time, i had inserted the last photo and ....crash....explorer had encountered a problem and had to close...no pardons or do you mind....just g.o.n.e.......not happy jan....brushed myself off and did another post.....got it finished and decided to do a spellcheck...well, apparently that wasn't a good idea because it just went on...and on...and on....and on....and still didn't check any spelling but it wouldn't cancel and it wouldn't let me do anything...grr...and then.....crash....another post lost....so i will give typepad one last chance tonight and i won't be doing a spellcheck so will apologise in advance for any/all mistakes.....

we live on a few acres not far out of a smallish country town in northwest nsw...too far out of town for a council operated garbage collection service, but, apparently close enough to town to be charged council rates....grrrrrrr.....

about once a month mr lzilulu has to do what we call a "tip run" where we he gathers up all the garbage and we cart it all several kilometres to a council depot. it starts with the loading of the bins onto the 'ute...along with the overflow from my sewing room...which is the shed in the background of the photo.....

.....the duchess flo takes up her self-appointed position of fore(wo)man.....

...and then it is time to set off on our sunday afternoon drive to the tip.....

....before we know it, we have travelled several kilometres and it is time for mr lzilulu to do some work....unloading the rubbish.....

...he's always pleased to have the job done....

....and the duchess? well, she is always pleased to return home and stretch out in front of the fire in her favourite chair.....

.......if only she would clean up some of that mess in front of the fire...thankfully we only have short winters....

better go....will be back soon with some news about what a group of ladies got up to in the shed over the weekend...stay tuned...until then, keep well and be kind to each other....

.....another visitor....

I was walking around the house this morning when I V.E.R.Y. clearly heard Ms Chook Chook talking to me....nothing unusual about the talking bit..but, INSIDE the house, surely not!!! I had a bit of a look around and sure enough, there she was.....

...in the kitchen if you don't mind......happily looking around and scouring the floor for crumbs.....

.......checked out my new red shoes...... gave me lots of compliment too she did.......

She told me that she came inside to check whether there was any truth in the "houseyard gossip"...she had heard that we had a pretty special magnet on the 'fridge and believe me, she couldn't contain her excitement when she saw it..............

Ms Chook Chook has been an only childchook for quite sometime now and she is very comfortable wandering around the place as if she owns it......she doesn't even think she needs to earn her keep...eggs are only laid when she thinks she might miss out on some special grain....oh! yes! it's a chook's life here at lzilulu's..........

btw...if you see mr lzilulu can you please remind him to ensure he closes the door properly when he goes outside...thanks!

weapons of mass destruction.......

Can you hear the hysterical laughter from where you are??? WE (the afternoon tea group) BLEW UP GOOGLE.......we were chatting away and then things went really quiet......then all was revealed...it had been terminated by Google because we had too many posts in the one hour period.....165....gulp....and that was a cyber coffee break at the same time as the real life meeting of the rest of the group in Sydney...it was sooo much fun while it lasted...what with us "chatting" and text messages going backwards and forwards to the Sydney group.....oh!dear!...the power of a group of bstitchers.....who woulda thought it???!!!!!

all my friends have gone to sydney....:>(

I am a member of an online stitch'n'bitch patch'n'chat group and every year we make every effort to ALL meet up at the Sydney Quilt Show at Darling Harbour. Unfortunately, this year I am unable to make it...and feeling pretty miserable about it too...... Today is the big "meet up" day, with afternoon tea at the Show and then dinner at some posh place tonight....

Was feeling particularly miserable this morning when I heard the "last chance" aeroplane fly overhead on its way to Sydney.....sooo....a quick email to the  rest of the group who won't be in Sydney and we are meeting for a "cyber coffee" at 3pm....care to join us???...all welcome...

I have set up my afternoon tea spot.......

I went on a local spending spree this morning and picked up some books......

........some fatties, a jelly roll and some charm squares.....

......a knitting bag from the two dollar shop...isn't it cute??

I've even gathered together a little bit of chantelle show'n'tell to share with the others who will be joining me for coffee......just a little bit of knitting....no new sewing yet.....

After lots of cajoling, I had to cajole because I refuse to stoop so low as to bribe ;>) , my  sister has started a blog. Check it out at ChalmersClan8 . If you ask her r.e.a.l.l.y nicely, she might even show you photos of some of her felted bags....go on, ask her!!....while you are in the asking mode, why not ask her to allow us to post comments ;>))

....the horse..........

'morning chickadees......don't you hate it when it's Sunday morning, your head is thumping from too much Verdi the night before, EVERYTHING is ideal for a sleep-in.....AND....you can't sleep because your head is full of "what will I do todays"???? I mean to say, I had even emailed my friend Carey when I arrived home from the party to say that I didn't think I'd be going to Coonamble to slobber drool over  their Quilt Show today because I was still under the affluence of incahol and didn't fancy the two and a half hour drive through the scrub.....so what do I do???....toss and turn and go "oh! buggar!"....so here I am...catching up before I "hit the shed" for some fabric fondling.........and if I can do this post really quickly, I'll be over in the shed before Mr lzilulu surfaces for his planned day with his mistress........

Hundreds A couple of people have asked me what happened to the horse...... remember, the one who/that wandered into our paddock a few weeks ago... We spent the day eyeing each other off, well I was eyeing him off and he was just making himself at home really....as horses do! I was wondering how I would know if his correct owner came to claim him....can't be too careful, he was a goodlooking young man and I would hate to send him off with the wrong human.....Late afternoon, I could see him racing around the paddock, kicking up his heels and doing what could only be described as a HAPPY dance....just as a car was driving up the driveway...hmm....I think this horse knows this vehicle.... Anyway, to cut a long story short, out stepped a young lady nursing a baby, with tears streaming down her face....apparently she had been driving around for hours looking for "her boy" and was just so happy to see him...he was a bit of a Houdini and was often escaping from his paddock but he had never ventured so far from home before....A quick phonecall from Mum saw the horse float arrive and the happy horse was loaded and off they went...He hasn't been back, so perhaps he didn't like me as much as I wished thought....oh!well!....never mind....

Meanwhile, back at the ranch Flo was not at all fazed by the visitor and spent her day getting acquainted with her new seating arrangements.....in the TV room...in front of the fire no less...she just KNEW it was her chair from the minute it was released from it's plastic bag.....hmm....just another display of her being comfortable with the knowledge that she is the boss.........

Can hear some stirrings from the master bedroom so must get over to the shed before I do a guilt-trip and cook a three course breakfast for mr lzilulu.....like, THAT'S going to happen...NOT!!

Will be back later today with some more "catch up" news and some photos.......
